Course Description

There may be a time when a child in your care will require First Aid. This course offers an insight into important First Aid Skills, which are invaluable when accidents happen around the home – and when you’re out and about.

All attendees will receive a First Aid kit and a First Aid manual to take home and all money raised will go to Guardian Angels York.

1. First Aid Kit
2. Looking after yourself and the casualty
3. Treatment of an unconscious casualty
4. Infant, Child and Adult CPR
5. Infant, Child and Adult Choking
6. Allergic reactions
7. Minor head injuries
8. Bleeding and Shock
9. Burns
10. Basic treatment of fractures
11. Meningitis
12. Poisoning, bites and stings

Aims and Objectives of the Course

First Aid procedures relevant to the care of babies and young children. A mixture of theory and practical elements will be included in your course.

Certificate

A First Rescue certificate, valid for three years, is issued on successful completion of the course. This course is aimed at parents, grandparents and guardians and is not suitable for child carers / minders for use in the workplace and would not be recognised by Ofsted.

This one day (6 hour) course is available on the following date:

Course Date: Saturday 27th June 2009
Course Times: 9.30 – 16.30
Course Trainer: Craig Ward (First Rescue)

Venue: Oaklands Sports Centre, Acomb, York

Course Cost: £30.00 per person
Fee includes tuition, beverages, first aid manual and a first aid kit. Lunch will not be provided. All money raised will go to Guardian Angels York.
