£1,000 Boost
2nd May 2009
£1,000 boost to both the Lord Mayor’s and Sheriff of York's Christmas Cheer Fund and to The Press Guardian Angels appeal
York's annual community carol concert continues to raise cash for good causes in spite of its difficulties in finding a permanent home.
Last year’s event was held at the University of York Central Hall amid uncertainty about the future of the Barbican Centre, but ticket sales meant the organisers were able to give a £1,000 boost to both the Lord Mayor’s and Sheriff of York's Christmas Cheer Fund and to The Press Guardian Angels appeal.
The official handover of the cash took place at York’s Guildhall.
Preparations are already under way for the 2009 concert, which is due to take place on December 13.
